Hi all! I'm making a sudden and quick trip to Gainesville FL and will have about a day to do some fossil hunting. I have heard about the hogtown and possum creeks and will likely visit those no matter what. But I was wondering if anyone had any advice for other places to check out. I can travel a little bit out of town but won't have access to a kayak so would need to get somewhere on foot. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks and I'll post my finds after the trip!

Hello everyone,. I'm new to this forum with a current interest in the sharks teeth found in the beautiful creeks throughout Gainesville, FL. A great relaxing hobby. Would like to meet other locals for sharks teeth hunting (and trash pickup). Unrelated to Gainesville however is the best fossil I ever found. A sea biscuit that was found in a field near Green Cove Springs, FL. This property had been previously dredge mined. That was over 15 years ago. Take a look.

Hi guys! I've been wondering for awhile if there's any possible way to ID some of the bone fragments that I have. Obviously some of them are just long flat fragments, but some of them seem to have identifying features or sockets/ joints. I know these pictures aren't the best, but if you have any thoughts on any of them please let me know. If you want more in-depth pictures of any of them I'd be happy to post them!

Good Afternoon everyone, I took a trip to Hogtown Creek in Gainesville Florida a few months ago and had pretty good success. Of my lot, I found a few fossils (pictured below) that I am having difficulties identifying. I don't want to mislabel them so I figured I'd turn to the experts. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. The ruler's marks are centimeters (top) and inches (bottom). This is my first time posting so hopefully this format is acceptable. I labeled each of the findings to help with referencing them in the replies. I am happy to take additional photos upon request. Thank you

Found this well-preserved tooth while digging about 18 inches into the creek bed in Hogtown Creek (Gainesville, FL). It appears to be an incisor tooth for a medium-sized animal. Not sure if it's a dog or a bear. Can anyone help identify? Thank you in advance! Sam
