A gorgeous tooth from one of my favorite sharks! The enamel isn't polished - the chalk preserves its shine extremely well - it's as shiny as when it fell out of the animal's mouth! -

A beautiful tooth from one of my favorite sharks. This one is extra special because of the self-inflicted bite mark - a gash seen on the left in lingual view. Apparently their bite was strong enough to cut their own teeth! -
Hi everyone, I just ordered this beautiful vertebra found in the Niobrara Chalk of Kansas (Cretaceous, 87 - 82 mya) for quite a bargain. Unfortunalty I don't have any precise location as where it was found, for that I am going to contact the seller. The vertebra was listed as being Mosasaur which it could very well be, but since it is a little bit distorted I am not quite sure, especially since many other critters can be found in the Niobrara Chalk. So I was hoping on the expertise of some of our members here who have more knowledge of Cretaceous verts and of Kansas fossils. @KansasFossilHunter @Troodon @LordTrilobite @pachy-pleuro-whatnot-odon @The Amateur Paleontologist you guys might be able to shed some more light on the piece? Thank you in advance! Topic might be more usefull with some pics, so here they are.

Hey all, I’ve found a number of these pretty geodized shells with incredible smoky and clear quartz crystals in the Kansas City area. Have you guys ever found anything like these?

Hey guys! I was in one of my favorite Pennsylvanian spots in East Kansas finding the usual brachs and bryos when all of a sudden this popped out at me. Any ideas as to what it might be? I’ve never seen something like this in my area before. Thanks.

Hey guys! I shared with you a few months ago my janassa toothplate, but the tooth has been showing some signs of progressive discoloration. It is slowly starting to grey in some areas, but’s never been exposed to vinegar or any real form of fossil prep. It is not moved around either so it’s not getting dinged up. Is this cause for alarm? I know only parts of the fossil are changing now, but I just want to ensure that the fossil isn’t going to be damaged by this in the future. Thank you.

I found these super cool fossils turned geode today. Any idea what kind of crystals they might be? I was thinking calcite or quartz. Much appreciated. (Edit: Doesn’t react to vinegar, so silica or clear quartz maybe?)

Hey guys! Total newb here, I was hunting for some Pennsylvanian brachs when I found these strange looking circular halves.(they don’t go together) Could they be fossils or are they just plain old rocks? My vote is just plain rocks.

I’ve found a few of these neat brachiopods which look to be dictyoclostus sp. or maybe linoproductus. Thoughts? (Edit: oh yeah pretty certain they are from the Pennsylvanian of east Kansas)

Hey all! Im kind of new to fossil hunting, but in the 4 months I've been obsessed with it and have amassed a fair collection of local byrozoans, brachiopods, bivalves, and crinoids. But recently Ive been kind of short of fossil rich places and was wondering if you guys could give me some great locations within like 20ish minutes of Overland Park. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
