    Orthocone Nautiloid

    Hello everyone. I purchased this as a group of rocks...gathered from the Middle Devonian, Hamilton Group, Kashong Memeber in Seneca Cnty., NYS. I can see that it is an Orthocone Nautiloid,. ID would be appreciated. But the most interesting part...is the dark "object" at the end. This area is not considered to be friendly to soft tissue. However the nautiloid and this dark object seem to be seamless. Explanations of this area would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Greg

    I've found this...I've looked through my middle devonian books under Gastropod, Ammonite, Bivalve, Brachiopod...can't find it under any of them. Pretty sure it's a mud mold...but, not 100%. Comes from the Kashong Member, Hamilton Group, Middle Devonian, Seneca Cnty, NYS. Thanks Greg

    Found at the Kashong Member, Finger Lakes, NYS, Middle Devonian. I've not seen this before...I'm assuming that it is the "inside" of something. The slab is mostly made up of Bryazoans, a few Crinoid stem pieces. I've added some others to make it more interesting.

    Stereolasma rectum?

    Found in Kashong Member, Central NYS, Middle Devonian. Is this a Stereolasma rectum or is it too small to tell? Found alone in a small slab. I'm pretty sure it was broken off...but it must have been small to begin with. The tip measures approx. 1/16", it is 1/4" long and the top is approx. 3/16". Thanks Greg

    Bryozoa help

    Middle Devonian, Seneca Cnty., NYS, Kashong Member(?). When I look at this rock it looks as though there are 3 kinds of Bryozoans. The first photo is of the rock itself...the 2nd photo include lines of what I see as different Bryozoans. The Blue line (3rd photo) shows pronounced verticle lines, Red line (4th photo) shows "elongated" structures and Green line(5th photo) shows square structures. Am I looking at it wrong? Id would be helpful as well as clarification on what I think I see. Thanks Greg

    Patriaspirifer duodenaris (Hall 1843)

    Found as surface float on the scree pile at the Kashong exposure. Originally assigned to Delthyris, reassigned to Spirifer, Acrospirifer, and Patriaspirifer. Alternate spellings: P. duodenaris, P. duodenaria, P. duodenarius. Does not appear in Fossilworks or Wilson’s “Field Guide to the Devonian Fossils of New York”.
