Hello. My name is Keith. I have collected fossils in eastern Kentucky for over 20 years. I'll never forget the first fern I found at age 7. I am currently studying to become a geologist. I am glad I ran across this site. I look forward to viewing other members galleries. I will be adding photos of some amazing fossils I have collected. It will be mostly plant fossils, with the occasional marine fossil. I will include, in this post, pics of a recent find. It is a large shale slab with the most amazing Calamite foliage (asterophyllite) fossils I have ever collected. It is quite a specimen! I have researched, and cannot find anything of its type that even comes close to its size and beauty. The slab is about one foot thick and, being shale, consists of mulitple layers of vegetation. Usually, when I find a large chunk of shale, I split every single layer open. But not this one. I am keeping it intact, in order to preserve the top layer with the beautiful Asterophyllite fossils. It pains me because, I know the other layers hold beautiful treasures too!
