Today I have the very good fortune to showcase a third new trilobite named in my honor: Heliopeltis morrisoni. This super spiny scutelluid comes from the lower Devonian of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, courtesy of Martin Basse et al. 2019. Formerly classified as Andegavia, this important discovery represents the first record of Heliopeltis outside of Morocco. The opportunity to collaborate with so many extraordinary trilobite workers from around the world is already a great reward, this is just the icing on the cake. We all stand on the shoulders of giants.
