Hi everybody, with @caterpillarwe went fossil hunting in several sites those past weeks. At the end of March he showed me two quarries in the Maestritchian. So here we went, in the beautiful country of Comminges (photos from the net). A land occupied by during the Romans time. Here, the ruins of the therms of Lugdunum covenarum. Behind you can see the little village of Saint-Bertrand de Comminges houses a Cathedral that make the village looking even smallest. A country with typical traditions, dances and costumes Here is the quarry of Nizan and some of the fossils found. In the quarry of Larcan, a few kilometers away. At the beginning of the month, my husband and i showed him two Aquitanian sites situated on the Douze river, between Mont-de-Marsan and Roquefort. In the department of Landes, where the forest is as vast as its beach is long (it begins at capbreton and ends at Arcachon so more than 100 kilometers in a straight line) and take lovely colors during autumn. Here also, the traditions are typical. The shephards used to walk with high stilts because of the marshes they had to work on. Jean-Baptiste Dominique

Hi, i found those things near a place where a friend of mine found ammonites in the Maestritchian of Bidart, Basque country. I really have no clue about what they could be. The squares beyond are half a centimeter. Here is the first one :

Hi, i tried a new spot : marls from the Maestritchian with ridges of marly limestones, above them are limestones from the Dano-Montian. There, according to the geologic informations i have, you can find Pachydiscus, Hamites, Echinids, Inocerams, Brachiopods. I found this piece and i first thought it was an oyster, but now i wonder if it could be a part of a rudist. It is about 11 centimeters long for about 10 centimeters of width. The whole block is very heavy.

In the marly limestones i picked up last saturday, i took this one because it looks fun. I wonder what are those holes : dessication, rain drops, other water imprints or none.

Hello, everybody ! In the past week-End i went in the Basque Country during four days for my work. So I had the occasion to look for fossils here. I found several things, among them those three fossils i found in the north of the Erretegia beach at the foot of the cliff. I found the two firts in grey marls : This i think is a weathered ammonite, i just have the half side of it. It is very thin (0,3 cm), it is 4 cm of width and about 3,4 cm in length. I know that in this area, you can find pachydiscus menuites, so, maybe it is one : I tried to have its imprint, but it went into pieces :
