Hi all, I have been having some trouble with this specimen. It came from a large collection of Mazon pieces I purchased a number of years back from collector Ron Brandt of Normal, Illinois, who self-collected and also purchased several extensive collections from others. Originally it was identified by someone (too far in the past) as an egg sac of some sort, but after some discussion with someone I would consider an expert, a fellow named Dan Damrow, who some of you may know, some doubt has been cast on that identification. I would be interested in any comments or insights you may have. Thanks, Paul

I have a Palaeoxyris that is significantly larger than this specimen. Is this a Palaeoxyris, and why would there be such a discrepancy in size between specimens?

Sorry, I forgot about this one. If I post another within two weeks, I promise to distribute my entire Mazon collection among you all. Offer void in the United States and other countries. I think I know what this is, as I see a similar image of one in an RCFossils album. But just to double check, this is what I believe it to be: Mamayocaris Jaskowskii.

What I first thought to be a Cyclus, after photographing with shadows, looks kind of like a jellyfish (Reticulomedusa?).

The first and last ever discovered baby bottlenose dolphin to be found at Mazon Creek! How lucky am I? Not a clue.

This looks very similar to one I posted yesterday, but this one has a very defined outline. My guess would be Essexella jellyfish, or possibly coprolite. It's a little bugger.

This could be a leaf of some sort, but if so, I don't think it would be typical of Mazon fossils, so I'm inclined to suggest a worm.

I always thought this was the digestive tract of a worm, but after taking the pictures, I'm fairly convinced that it's a shrimp of some sort.

I'm doubting my initial thought that this is a leaf impression. It very much resembles some bark imprint images I have seen, but some of the other visual characteristics are misleading. Any thoughts?

I have not seen any definitive images of leaves of this exact shape and pattern yet. The closest I can find is one of RCFossils images: http://www.thefossilforum.com/index.php?/gallery/image/11888-alethopteris-serli-rcmc0058ajpg/&browse=1 Do you think it's the same?

I know I've seen images of this type of creature before, with the obvious oval structure, I think, being a mouth.

Don't have a good guess for this one. Are those eyes I'm seeing, or some other body part? Or is it fauna at all?
