I found this way back in the 1990's and just yesterday I finally finished up a most beautiful prep job. I found this in a box in my shed about 3 weeks ago. Besides fixing most of the things wrong with it, I also carved a stand for it from the concretion it was in. Made a 2.5 hour video of it too but not published yet. I have to say, even though this project took way longer than I had anticipated, it was a freakin blast to prep this out the way I did. This is the way it looked back in the 90's. and this is what it looks like now.

From the album: Gastropods
My best ever of one of these known as Neptunia (sulcosipho) tabulata, found in the Scotia Sandstone Formation in Northern California and Pliocene in age. This is a really big one and quite rare!! -
Ive always had a soft spot for the gastropods. I do like them in rock though. These are all from Northern California from the Scotia Bluffs Formation, Pliocene. The little Neptunia tabulata is my favorite in these photos. Back in the day I was always on the lookout for the Neptunia's. Very hard to find complete! Most of the snails I found were the Naticids but Just cool little gastro's for me. Oh, in the second pic you can see how the one gastro was murdered for dinner. RB
