I was given this Eurypterid fossil a while back and I was looking to see if anyone had any ideas towards a species, i’ve got no idea where it came from other than somewhere in the New England/Canada area. Someone has told me it looks like an Adelophthalamus but id like some more opinions. Thank you

Hello, usually I do all of my fossil hunting around Cory’s lane and other parts of that Formation, but I was wondering if there are any fossil sites near or around North Western Rhode Island.

A better, non-chalk image of a previous post. I think it might be a possible Batrachopus footprint (missing a toe, the rock is broken on the left side). Hartford Basin Portland Formation Western Massachusetts-

It looks the part of a Batrachopus footprint (missing a toe) with the proper size and location but I cannot say for sure. Hartford Basin Portland Formation Western Massachusetts- 2 comments

Pretty sure it is not an ichnofossil, but with two leaflets on the rock I don't have much to ID it from. Hartford Basin Portland Formation Massachusetts-

Either a small footprint or a partial one I believe it to be a Grallator due to its shape and size. Picked it up while hiking. Hartford Basin Portland Formation Massachusetts-

A mud crack preserved in the shale, I determined it not to be an ichnofossil due to more that turned up in the rock. Hartford Basin Portland Formation Massachusetts-

Would love to go collecting fossils this July. Trilobites and Ammonites are high on my list. Can anyone suggest places to go in New England or New York? I'm a geologist/micro-paleontologist (foraminifera) but have never collected macro-fossils in the North-east. I currently live in CT. Any guidance much appreciated.

For anyone who finds themselves up to the challenge of fossil hunting in Massachusetts/New England I have a couple of very informative books to recommend. These books are also relevant for anyone hunting in Connecticut and Rhode Island. Fossils can be hard to find here in Northeastern USA so it pays off to do your homework! I've met both of the authors of these books and they're definitely experts on the local geology/paleontology. Happy Trails! Hey there everyone. It's been awhile since I've been here. I was caught up with school and work so I was unable to make my daily visits. i hope all of you guys had a great new year. So with that out of the way, I need you guys to point me to the right direction. since Connecticut isn't the ideal spot to go fossil hunting in, I heard New York, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey 3 great states for fossil hunting. if any of you guys know of any great fossil hunting spots, can you tell me what they are and possibly their addresses? thank you and have a good one.
