    Hello from Tennessee!

Hello, everyone! I am a 34 year old married female that loves everything about rocks, fossils, and gemstones! My husband and I have an extensive collection of all varieties of just anything we thought looked neat or different. My husband recently started working on a house his mom bought and under it is a root cellar with a rock "wall" that I've been allowed to dig in .. y'all, I can't wait to show my finds off. I am certain (although I'm definitely also not sure 😃) that we have stumbled upon something amazing! Hint* dinos and gold/silver!

    Hello to all

Hello- I just joined; I've been reading this site for a while as I seek info when I find a potential fossil. Today, I was rock picking and found teeth. I figured cow teeth. A man there, asked about them and he said, they are ancient bison teeth, he said they'd be thousands of yrs old, citing the stylid and the blueish color on the tooth as evidence. Intrigued, and knowing he could be wrong or pulling my leg- I Googled to determine if he could be right. I've read other topics about this on this site. I am still not sure what I have found. Either way, it must be very old - the top above the teeth are very hard, maybe petrified, if that is a thing in something like this. I found it in the Blue Earth river, Mn. Here is today's find- feel free to comment if you have an opinion on them. Also, no matter what they are from, does anyone have suggestions for cleaning them up a bit?

    Hi!

New to Texas and new to this forum, most of my rock, mineral and fossil collection got lost (more accurately left behind) in the move and I have only kept a few choice pieces. I have found a few new ones since arriving though, all in the Permian Basin of West Texas. Hope to make some good friends here and happy fossil hunting!

    I'm new :)

Hi guys! Just to introduce myself! I'm Rebecca and from the UK. I'm a novice fossil hunter. I just go to the local beaches with my dad and my children and whilst playing, me and dad look for fossils. I've only ever found 'devils toenails', an ammonite, and a piece that I've posted in the ID page that I'm stuck on identifying. I joined to get help as being novice, I often struggle to identify some things, so would be grateful for more expert help thanks guys!

    New to Forum

Hi, I'm new here. I'm a retired geochemist with an ongoing interest in fossils - I love the hunt, I love to imagine the amount of time elapsed between when the animal lay in the sediments and died and when I picked it up. Mind blowing. Would like to connect with others to learn and share. I have found some, what I think are concretions, in some debris from the Chinle and/or Moenkopi Formations in the Indian Creek area of Utah. I've been going there for 30 years and have never seen anything like it. I have found dinosaur bones in the area. What's the defining difference between dinosaur eggs and concretions? These are definitely not made of SS - probably silt? cracked surface (like mud cracks), gray, inside one has the "septarian" look, others just plain. Anybody else find these in the area?
  8. Fishkeeper

    Hello from Texas

Hi all! I'm a marine biologist in training, and I tend to collect bits of nature for my own reference and to show to other people. Plants, various marine biology specimens, bones, and fossils. My fossil collection is a bit sparse, though- just a giant sawfish tooth, a Megalodon tooth, three small fish fossils, a handful of shells I found in a riverbank nearby, and a tooth fairly similar to a sand shark's tooth that I found mixed in with the pebbles on a playground. I have a trip to Mineral Wells fossil park ( http://www.mineralwellsfossilpark.com/ ) planned for next week, and a trip to a little island near Padre Island in a couple of months. Hoping to find some cool stuff there. I'm not certain what to look for around Padre Island, though. Specifically, I'm not certain where the fossils would be. Am I looking for things washed up loose on the beach, or things embedded in rocks?
