Stumped on the NJ sea rolled find

I found this during a low tide walk earlier this week on the bay. I usually find lots of fossil fragments, and sometimes if the sea chooses to be kind to me, I get to take home a top pocket find fossil. On this particular day I did find a complete gastropod mold in addition to this mystery. I’d be interested to hear thoughts on this. In I can’t find anything like it online or in any of my books.

    Fossil Art

Dear Forum Members, I am interested in hearing whether or not anyone here has played around with interesting or exotic displays for their fossils, or in hearing if anyone has created fossil art from the usual materials (e.g. paints, pencils, etc...) or from digital tools (e.g. neural style transfer, digital drawing platforms, etc...). I have used a machine learning technique called neural style transfer to take the following artwork, extract its style, and apply it to an image of a fossil. I have also tried to do some stuff with TSP (Traveling Salesperson Art), which a technique from linear optimization that allows one to make continuous line drawings. The inputs are an exogyra mollusk and a mosasaur tooth found by me. I am interested in seeing anyone's fossil art, so please post it here if you want! 3. Hello everyone! Bergenhoek here! I'm new to the forum, and also to fossil hunting in general. I'm mostly interested in archaeology, but my friends, @Trevor and @The Jersey Devil have a lot more experience than me and they took me along on a trip with them. It was perfect weather too. Although it was in the low 70's, the shade and cool water made for excellent conditions for a casual day of hunting. It was the day after I graduated college, so it was nice to spend my first day as a free man searching the riverbeds for fossils. The goal of the trip for me was to escape my dorm room rather than find anything, but I did find some cool things! The first is part of a jawbone from Enchodus sp. Second are some relatively intact goblin shark teeth The next two pictures are part of a tooth from a mosasaur (crazy how I found it on my second ever trip!) Next is just an interesting piece of pottery I found, I really wanted to find an arrowhead but this'll do Next is a Selachian vertebra The last are some shark teeth I found more things, mostly pieces of shark teeth, but that's it. Enjoy! And some scenery from the site:
  4. Out of the countless New Jersey cretaceous crab claws I've seen and found this has to be one of the strangest claw partials yet. Seems to be an ornamented shell as apposed to the smooth claw textures that are typically found. Definitely a very interesting piece, anyone have any ideas on a possible species or if any ornamental crabs have found in nj cretaceous, or any other new jersey cretaceous hunters ever come across one similar? Definitely a head scratcher

    Large NJ Cretaceous Bone

Found this thick bone piece in a new jersey cretaceous creek and wonder if its possible to maybe id since one side has a distinct rough texture while the other is flatter and striated, I would guess either large turtle, mosasaur, or dinosaur. My friend joked its a theropod maxilary skull fragment, but we all know around here that material seems close to impossible to come across haha. Interested to hear any other thoughts.

Mystery Cretaceous Tooth New Jersey NJ

Hello everyone, found this mysterious tooth in a cretaceous stream in New Jersey. Haven't come across any similar or anything I can really compare it to, plus its kinda worn. Which doesn't help but the leaf-like shape alone is very interesting, hopefully this one can be figured out.

    Incense cone like teeth?

These are some things that look like an insense. On every one, there is a sharp rib as a tooth would have. Any ideas?

  10. Dear fellow fossil hunters, Joseph @The Jersey Devil and I went fossil hunting at an NJ Cretaceous stream on December 22nd and 23rd. On the 22nd I surface hunted, expecting a good wash out due to the previous night's rain. I had secured a section of the stream before realizing that someone had gotten to most of the stream before I had. Instead of continuing forward, I went back and explored some of the sections downstream that I had skipped. These too had been scanned so I ran back to my sifter that I had left upstream and then began sifting. Some hours later I was sifting and saw Joseph. We hadn't expected to see each other but were glad we did. Together we did some sifting and surface hunting before leaving. The next day, I arrived fairly early, hoping that the water had receded enough to expose some gravel bars that I know usually produce well. They were not exposed and I decided to do some water hunting, where I squat down and look in the water for teeth or whatever else I can find. The water was freezing and I was punished each time I went to grab something that was not a fossil. I had said hello to a jogger I saw over the ridge and later my friend Tyler, who does not have an account yet, found me and told me the jogger had mentioned that there was someone else hunting. Hunting on December 23rd has become a tradition between us. For three years now we have both unexpectedly found each other hunting on this day. Tyler did not bring a sifter and, with Joseph soon to be on his way, I asked Joseph to bring a third sifter. When Joseph arrived we all went upstream and began hunting. Not that long into the hunt Joseph found an excellent mosasaur tooth that put me on overdrive trying to find something of equal or greater significance. This did not materialize, but I did end up finding a lot of fossils. Tyler found an awesome heteromorphic ammonite. Some time later Tyler and Joseph decided to do some surface collecting and Joseph found a killer point. Joseph lent Tyler the point for him to study and replicate; Tyler is an awesome upcoming flint knapper. Together we all had fun and I look forward to future hunts with them. Hopefully we all may be able to go hunting with Dave @Darktooth and Frank @frankh8147 this Friday.
