A recent trip to Cadiz , Ca and Latham shale trilobites- it’s absolute paradise with the desert vistas and train sounds. And trilobites. I was only able to visit one day this trip, but found a few incomplete. These few were especially fun. I really could stay for days… weeks. I wonder if anyone has found cast and mold trilobites specimens at that site. And I know this should probably go to the ID section… I think the first photo are tiny trilobite eyes?

Yesterday me and my apprentice @ChasingGhostsYT scouted out some Kinzers localities in Lancaster with great success! Here are some of are finds. Top to Bottom. Mesonacis sp. (first one In my collection and the first one I’ve ever collected partial or complete) Both sides of the Mesonacis little Olenllous sp. both sides of the Olenllous sp.

Here’s a beautiful double trilobite plate I recently split out. Neither of the trilobites are particularly large, around 2 cm, but they are fully matured. The pleura of both trilobites are still buried under a thin layer of rock, and I’ll be sure to reupload this awesome piece after some careful prep. -

Here’s a perfectly articulated example of a once plentiful, now elusive Cambrian species. This is a puny bug, yet it is almost fully matured. The specimen measures less than just below one centimeter from cephalon to axial spine. Every delicate spine is in place, even the fragile axial spine! I was able to remove a thin layer of rock from atop the fragile cephalon without damaging the trilobite, making it one of my nicer finds this year. The bug is in the anti-Goldilocks zone of being just too big to focus under my hand magnifier to get the axial spine in focus along with the body, but you can still make it out in the photo. -

Though I’m fairly sure P. yorkensis is currently invalid, this definitely isn’t Olenellus. About 4 mm, I believe the rest of this immature trilobite may be buried underneath the rock. I will prep it once I have the proper tools! -

Two uncommon bugs, if only it weren’t just the cranidium! The orytocephalites cranidium is truly miniscule, it's located towards the bottom of the screen in the center - underneath the larger ptychopariid molt piece. -
