This was found last weekend in the Mounds Reef area and the Ammonite species is Placenticeras pseudoplacenta. The concretion had already been opened by a previous person or less likely weathered out naturally. Anyway this was all there was and I have tuned my eyes for this shape since finding 4-5 partials, one intact inside the concretion and another that had been passed over for looking like a "boring" smooth clamshell to someone else. Is the best way to reveal the sutures the same as polishing rocks or Damascus steel? Start coarse and up the grit until the shine is mirror like? Or use a chemical like muriatic acid? Two different angles of lighting. One pass with 120 grit, skipped to 1,000 grit, then Dremeled some red rouge for a super quick, cheater reveal. They were unseen before hand.

found in Lebanon Not found in any specific formation but, according to the geo map i have, the rocks are late Cretaceous(albian-vraconian) lots of gastropods, bivalves and brachiopods around. i want to say its some sort of ammonite, but as far as known fossils here ammonites arent some of them. the ridges on it seem to be connected to each other like a puzzle would be (image 3). also the fossil tapers(image 1). this is all the information i have. Note: To my knowledge no Ammonites have been recorded in Lebanon Thanks for your help guys!

Hello from Portugal! A 100% layman here. Not even sure if this is in fact a fossil, but am very intrigued by its shape. Seems partially fossilized - the sides are stoney and symmetrically flanking what appears to be a fragment of some form of segmented exoskeleton (?) which seems quite hard and strong despite its flakey appearance. I found it in the Algarve, at Galé Beach / Praia de Galé in Albufeira, Portugal. Have you seen similar finds? So interested in hearing your thoughts! PS I tried to provide useful photos, definitely let me know if I can do better to enhance the inspection!
