    Unknown bone?

Hey everyone! I need some help identifying an object I found in Asotin county, Washington on the banks of the snake river. I believe the object is a bone. looks like one end of a femur to me but I'm just guessing. It's probably from a cow or horse, but it's really heavy, like it's petrified or water logged, leading me to wonder how old it is. I have never seen anything quite like it, myself. Any input would be amazing. Please and thank you.

    Petrified Bark? Washington State

Hello all, I came across this on a beach on Whidbey Island, Washington, USA. If is a small piece 3 cm x 6 cm and flat. Very hard. Looks like a bark but I don't know if bark petrified on its own without actual wood. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thank you for your time and expertise.
  3. Good Day Everyone, I am currently on Whidbey Island, Washington, USA and have been beach combing in my free time. There was a huge storm that hit the coast about 2 weeks ago. I found this piece washed up against a rock wall after the storm. Looks to have some wood structure but not sure. Dimension for this piece are 21 cm x 15 cm x 33 cm and the weight is 9 KG. This is a westerly facing beach. There is a ton of drift wood all around this island. Any thoughts are appreciated. I will be heading home in a week and am looking to identify this piece to determine what i do with it before I leave. Thank you all for your time and expertise.

Is this degraded petrified palm wood

Hello all, I am working in western Washington and have been hitting the beaches. I think I have found some petrified palm or limb cast of degraded palm. Any input is appreciated. I will be shipping some things back home and would like to have other eyes on it. Thank you all in advance. The last photo is trying to show the wood texture.
  5. Would someone be able to confirm or provide more information on whether or not this is petrified wood? Found near Canaan, NY. Lots of smaller pet wood on the land. 5 gal bucket for size reference. Sorry it’s dirty, hoping I won’t have to put in the work scrubbing until I find out if it truly is pet wood!

  8. This one given to me by my great grandma, who I believe found it in New Mexico years ago in one of her trips. The bottom has a smooth almost glass like texture, the top is also fairly smooth but not quiet as smooth, and the whole thing is hard as stone. It weighs 5.780 pounds and is 26 inches around and three inches any it’s tallest point. any help on this would be greatly appreciated

    Egg? Crystalized or Petrified?

Hello! I have found my way here because while my gut says one thing, I would really prefer more experienced opinions. I found this in a layer of river sediment (probably flood level) near the Russian River in Healdsburg, California @ approximately 10-20 ft above current water level. It seems to be honed in texture and weighs 245.8g. I believe it to be Yellow Calcite as its completely crystallized, there is also a portion of it that is more dense and less translucent, which I'm guessing to be the yolk. The greenish ring is circular but not perfect, which is why feel the yolk has been broken. . Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions?

    Petrified Wood, or Imposter?

Wanted an opinion on whether this is petrified wood or just a rock doing a clever impersonation. I found it in my in-laws' landscape rock at the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri. Obviously, I have no idea if it originated from that area.
