Pic #1- Asterophyllites Pic #2- Calamites Stem 2-D impression Pic #3- Paripteris Gigantae Pic #4- Lyginopteris with Nueropteris Pic #5- Mariopteris fern with rachis... pos/neg print when put together forms a heart... Pic #6- Mariopteris fern with rachis Pic #7- Lyginopteris with rachis Pic #8- Trigoncarpus Pic #9- Nueropteris Pic #10- Fern front hash plate

Howdy ya'll! This Calamite comes from last week's finds. When I pried open the shale slab this 3D stem cast fell out. On the exterior and interior there appears to be a Trigonocarpus (seed pod) imbedded into the side (enlarged pics). Evidently the seed made its way into the hollow portion of the Calamite as it filled with sediment and was captured in time. If you guys see something else please chime in.

Howdy all! Found this really cool fossil in the "fern layer" of the new site yesterday. It appears to be a stem with fern fronds in the process of unrolling which is known as "circinate vernation"? I haven't found nor seen anything like this including Googling an image of it...there were no images? Carb flora enthusiasts please chime in if u see something else?

Hi, my name is Rockin' Ric and I'm addicted to Fossilized Ferns as you can see! There are a few different species represented here as well as a hash plate with a variety scattered about! These finds are from last Friday's hunt. I thought I exhausted the layer that contained these fossils and yet found another layer and as I was leaving the site. The new layer has to wait until I return...can't do too much when the sun sets and there is no light. The last picture is a pos/neg plate of a Lepidostrobophyllum.

Hello TFF friends! I got the chance to go back to the hot spot on Memorial Day. It was a hot and muggy day but found a few nice specimens consisting of Ferns, Trigoncarpus, Lycopodiates, Lepidostrobus and a few nice hash plates. I think I determined after finding this site that I'm really addicted to Fossilized Ferns, especially these since they are so well preserved!

Does anyone know what these are, the first and second picture? Could it be and end piece of some type of Lycopsid?? The third picture of a Lyginopteris fern frond is a golden color...is this some type of sufuric oxidation that created the coloration...inquiring minds want to know?
