Underrated/Lesser Known Fossil Documentaries Recommendations?
Kurufossils posted a topic in Questions & Answers
Not sure if there is already a post answering this question here, but I'm on the lookout for any recommendations for some of the more underrated and lesser known fossil documentaries that can be found out there besides the Walking With Dinosauresque well known types. Maybe any posts on here can also help others explore some more obscure and interesting documentary titles to watch.- 5 replies

So I have a question. What are some of the best budget fossils for the beginning collector? I’m just getting into fossil collecting, and I don’t really have a focus yet, I’d just like to start off with a few representative pieces and then eventually I might try to narrow down my collecting scope. I’ve been browsing the forums a bit, and I’ve noticed some nice ammonites and trilobites can be had without breaking the bank, there’s some nice second quality Megalodon teeth out there that are reasonable, plants and fish from the Green River area are priced right, and there’s some affordable and good looking Spinosaur and Mosasaur stuff from Morocco (although from what I’ve read I’m a bit leery about some of it). Is there anything else that anyone would recommend for a beginning collection? My interests have always ran towards the large theropods and ceratopsians, but like I said, I’m starting small and eventually someday I hope to own that monster T-Rex tooth that everyone dreams of. Thanks for all the help.

Mrs. HamptonsDoc and I are are heading to Marrakech in a few days for some R&R and to escape this cold weather that just won't leave New York. Can anyone recommend any good fossil shops in or around the town? We're going to spend a day in both Casablanca and Essaouira too, and an excursion into the Atlas Mountains. I wanted to take a trip to Kem-Kem but the Mrs. has a different idea of vacation than I do! @Tidgy's Dad

Hi, I'm super casual about fossil hunting - I'll do it when I get the chance and enjoy it but I'm afraid it's not my life's passion (yet) My usual haunts are Walton-on-the-Naze and other nearby sites, the kind you can wander about and either pick up fragments or break rocks without too much extra equipment. And now I'm in Japan. I've come to Iwate, a prefecture on the northern end of the main island, and will be living here for a while. So how can I find out what sites are near me, and does anyone know the area or have any recommendations? Google is turning up sites that are either museum-only, commercially excavated and private areas, or a fossil park on a different island at the other end of the country.

Hi All, Long time Paleontology enthusiast but first time poster on The Fossil Forums (thanks for having me!). Was wondering if any of the members had recommendations on books about dinosaurs, trilobites, prehistoric life? I have searched this forum and also gone to amazon lists and book rating sites and I'm having a tough time finding some real recommendations that are more words than pictures! I'm looking for recommendations on novels that go through the history, evolution, or lives of prehistoric life or extinction. Does anyone have any must-reads? Thanks! Matt
