GeschWhat posted a topic in Fossil IDSince I couldn't go out to dig for fossils, I decided to go on a micro dig. Today's dig was in a coprolite fragment from the Oligocene. Prior to excavation, the broken face of the coprolite looked like this. You can see a little bit of bone peeking through. After about an hour of excavation under 40X magnification, I uncovered what I think is a rodent tooth and possibly a toe bone and claw??? What do you think? Does anyone out there know their Rupelian rodents? Grinding Surface of the tooth: Side view showing roots: Small toe bone and claw or an fractured toe/foot bone? Is fossil poop cool or what???
