    My finds today

Today i came to Lo Valdés, in Chile. A Jurassic formation based on abundant and relatively diverse ammonite assemblages. I found this!
  2. When I try to do a search on fossilworks.org I get the error "This site can't be reached. fossilworks.org DNS address could not be found.". Am I doing something wrong?
  3. Hello, all!! I’m new to TFF but not new to being fossil obsessed. I’m a professional scuba diver from Kentucky and have been diving several times in Venice, FL and pulled up some fun finds (I’ll need to post a few here from my last trip for ID). Although I love diving, my husband and I would like to find an opportunity to search on our own (not necessarily diving). We live in Kentucky but travel to central Florida (Leesburg area) several times a year to visit my parents. From my research, the place that intrigues me the most is the Peace River. My question for y’all is...how do we go about doing it? We have the plans to build our own screens and we’ll bring a shovel, but I’m curious about the logistics. Where to park? Where to enter the river? Is there a concern about alligators? Should we bring our kayaks? Should we book a “tour” first and learn the ropes? I understand that we won’t be diving this River, and that’s totally fine. We just love fossil hunting (and want to bring my dad and he’s not a diver). Any and ALL information will be helpful!!! I do have my fossil permit in Florida (just got it in the mail a few weeks ago). Side note: we dive Rainbow River a lot and I’ve found some stingray barbs and crusher pallets there, but nothing significant and no teeth. Has anyone ever had any luck in that River? I’ve included a pic of my heartbreaker meg from one of my Venice dives. But I still love it.
  4. Every Saturday morning i'm in Big Brook but when i leave there are 6.5 long days before i get to go again. I find myself daydreaming about my next visit specifically or fossils in general. Of course i read The Fossil Forum repeatedly, visit the great Big Brook sites on line (and others), i look at my "collection" and perhaps reorganize, i plan where in Big Brook i will go on my next trip and maybe consult some maps, and of course think about what i will find next visit and whats on my bucket list. Doesn't matter if i'm at work or out on a run, my thoughts will sooner or later come back to "sharking" as my wife calls it. I do understand that in time this will fade - not my collecting of course but the daydreaming about it. I've had a number of hobbies/obsessions over the years (still running after 40 years, rotisserie baseball on hold per Covid after 35 years, still collecting Joseph Dixon Crucible Co artifacts after 7 years but did stop collecting rare books because it just got too expensive). With all these hobbies/obsessions i would daydream about them constantly at the beginning and then with time, even though i pursued the activity with the same intensity as before i just didn't think about it as much when i wasn't actually doing it. I guess i'm now daydreaming about daydreaming!!!
  5. Hello, I am completely new and inexperienced in the amateur palaeontology world. I am planning some trips to search for fossils on the beaches in The Netherlands. What are the things I really need to have? I can think of a sieve and a shovel. But what are the best things to wrap found objects in? And what sizes of sieve should I buy and where from? Basically, throw everything at me you know, I'll take it in (eventually) Happy Hunting! -Jacob
  6. Hi all, I have about 3 months off, and would really just like to journey the US in search of fossils. I live in California, and would be open to some traveling in the states. Is there any trips I can go on with a team or something in search of fossils? Thanks in advance
  7. From the album: Copenhagen, Louisiana finds

My brother and I try to get to the woods as much as possible to do a little bone searching when I visit.
