Hi,I’m trying to find out what these stones are?I am from South Africa and visiting a friend in the UK.They have this type of stone in their garden which is mixed with shale in their walkway,they have a slight burgundy tinge to them.The big heavy rocks are used in their garden as a small rockery but they incredibly heavy and dense,and feel & look like heavy metal?

Thought I had found some obsidian today until some basic research says it is not found in Spain. Images do not do justice to how smooth and shiny it is, and it is very heavy, almost half a kilo.

Found these 4 rocks near bedrock in same area of my other finds. Near forest, former farm land, streams and game trails. Still have a huge pile to dig through. Will take some time to finish the work. Have shiny elements and mica. Take you for your opinions.

I found this stone in southern New Hampshire on the border of a forest area on a former farm site. It has shiny elements which I think might be Quartz. It’s weight is 7.4 ounces. See photo for size. I know glacial activity in New Hampshire was late. I found my other interesting stones some of which could have been used as tools. Thank you.

I have some shark teeth fossils, and some of them have some special shines on the edge of the blade. It will change color when you look from different angles. I'm curious why this happens? But like this indo megalodon, it didn’t has that shine.

Hi everyone, wanted to show off this piece i found a few months ago in Normandy, France. Far from an expert but as far as i could tell it's a piece of wood that turned into charcoal and where the bark pyritised, it's about 7cm tall. Had trouble finding similar specimens online, is this a common occurance? (The wood part is very shiny because i had to glue it because it started to become very cracked and unstable after a few months)

Never been startled by a fossil before now, this thing has a life of it's own. Came from creek in Eagle Ford with QT and QAL material, looked like wet wood until I washed and dried it, I could shine it with my shirt, almost looks silver it's so shiny, as I'm turning it and looking with loop I hear a click noise, couldn't figure out where it was coming by from until 3rd time, after I stopped moving it clicked and I could feel it. That's when it got weird, as I'm taking pictures , not touching it, it clicked, several times. It is light, sounds like bone when tapped, very hard, and wondering of it's peice of tusk now, that's haunted, it's very unnerving.

I found this rock in my garden a while ago, I have tried ID'ing it by myself before but had no luck. I am guessing it's some kind of volcanic rock? I would appreciate any help.

I’m so sorry to bother anyone but Google Image search has sent me down days of rabbit holes. This rock is slightly magnetic (the magnet acts funny but it doesn’t stick). When rubbed against paper it rips it or imprints it but doesn’t leave residue at all (Even when wet) . Google keeps showing me meteorites but I’m not the type that thinks everything I have is a Native American tool or valuable crystal. All I did to clean it was spay it with a water bottle. With all the rain lots of stuff has came up to the top and this was found in that same grid square of 1foot x 1foot as the other weird things like sharpened points and in the foot sized square beside it was a couple of almost finished arrowheads. I live on the border of Lauderdale and Limestone counties in North Alabama. Please help or in a thousand years someone might find my laptop and phone with google stinks scratched into the screen.

A friend sent me these photos of what is a bright shiny silvery type of mineral. Can anyone help us identify. They were found on the surface near Medina Lake west of San Antonio, Texas when the lake was extremely low. Right now I don't know what the weight and hardness but I can probably find that pretty easily. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ammonite purchased online, from Madagascar. formation is unknown to me. Cretaceous period. -
I found this today at the rock quarry located in Crescent, Iowa. I was busting shale when I noticed something shiny amidst the rubble, and found this. The professor on the trip (I went with my college) said she had never seen anything like it before. The shiny part reminds me of mother of pearl. The professor guessed that it may be a wasp, but she suggests that I get it identified by someone with more knowledge/experience than her. Any ideas??
