Just would like to share with you this lovely fossil of mine. As you can see it is actually very small but like many of my fossils, so well preserved! I like finding my fossils like this because they have allowed me to have a look inside, to see the septal wall, the siphuncle, the lines in the shell. Not really sure what that is at the end of the living chamber. No matter, it was quite pink inside when I first dug it up, hard to believe it is 430 million years old. I believe the colours and and state of these fossils are a chemistry mix of calcite, and sudden coverage in matrix. Check out the perfect, tiny little crinoid at the top. I have looked at the data available on the internet, scientists are awesome, I’m saying Pomerantsoceras Pollux. Thanks again to the National Museum, Praha, Czech Respublic (Barrande’s types) Vojtech Turek, so enjoyed his research!

Hi all, Could this be a badly worn rugose colonial coral? My guess, due to what looks like calyces, vs. more typical corallites. Does anyone recognize this? Length is 3cm. Found in Lake Michigan, IL, Wenlock epoch, Racine formation. TIA to all! This area has been a bit better protected and appears a tad less worn:
