Found an odd bone that I am unsure of, I could use some help. Seems to be partially fossilized, and is from a site where I have found numerous fossil Bison bones and teeth. It has what looks like one flexor/joint end, but the other end isn't. Advice appreciated.

I collect in the Severn, a late cretaceous marine formation in Maryland regularly. Found an odd bone. I think it is a furcula but am uncertain and open to other interpretations. If it is a furcula can it be identified further, is it bird, is it dino can a guess be made as to species? It is appr 2-3 cm on a side with a significant narrow fossa along the entire internal margin of the bone. All suggestions will be valued.

Been working on my fossil ID skills. Need help ruling these in or out, please.
CoyoteAbides posted a topic in Fossil ID
I live North of Portland along the West side of the Willamette river. The house we bought last spring has the most amazing river rock used for the landscaping. As a rock hound I was in heaven. Agates, picture jasper, jade and all kinds of beauties. I also have a lot of petrified wood and bone fragments. I have been finding some possible fossils and have struggled to ID them. Hoping someone might help me rule these in or out as fossils. That will greatly help me classify the things I am finding here at my house.- 2 replies

Found a weird little bone, 5 cm by 3 cm. Three major points (though two could be to the same joint?) @Boesse Seems heavy for its size (but washed up on the beach, could be modern?) Curious what it could be?

Found this a while back and had it in my unidentified pile. I assumed it was a small mammal rib and probably un-identifiable, but I took a second look recently, and there's something about the shape that doesn't quite look mammal to me. It also seems older than many of my finds because the entire in-fill at the broken end appears fully mineralized. I figured it was worth asking about. @Harry Pristis @Shellseeker @JohnJ @Meganeura @GPayton @garyc

I found this small piece of what I believe is bone with what looks like a patterned design of punched holes. The piece is only 25mm long x 10 mm wide x 3mm thick and tapering to a flattened end. When I first spotted it in the sifter I thought maybe it was a chip of a tooth, but then saw the holes and from looking at the sides came to the conclusion it was bone. I don't know what could have caused the holes that look like they were punched into the bone in a side by side pattern. This is what made me think it may be an artifact of some type. The holes do not go all the way through the bone. Would welcome hearing the opinion of others and from anyone who has seen something similar.

Hi, I found this small fossilized bone, about 6 months ago in southern Galveston Island. I haven’t been able to ID what animal it came from. The geology of the area is from the Late Pleistocene (100,000-11000 years ago) Beaumont formation. I have found fossilized turtle shell fragments, and fossilized crab claws in the same location. It measures just about 1 cm in length and width. Any idea as to what is is? Front side Back side
