Good afternoon everyone! I believe this is part of a vertebra that was found in the material dug during the excavation of a big, deep lake in my community. Even though it is broken, I hope someone can help me in identifying what animal it comes from. It weighs 3.8 ounces. Thank you in advance for your help!

Hello to all! I’m new to fossil hunting and have really enjoyed learning so far. I’m a natural born beach comber though I’m new to Northeast Florida as well. I’m hoping to learn about good sites to find fossils within an hour or two of Jacksonville and to soak up loads of good information about all things fossils!

Good morning! I am a complete novice so this may be very easy for all of you. I was walking the beach along the ocean in Saint Augustine, Florida (northeastern Florida). I always look for shark teeth (of which there are many) but recognize them as being black. I found this tooth and it is cream colored. My husband thinks it might belong to someone’s pet. But, it could be something exciting! What do you think?
