Having played around old equipment all my life, I think I know what this is, but it just looks so much like a fossil I had to check. Hint: It fails a tap test.

I was having fun challenging a Canadien goose to a honking contest near the west branch of the Trinity River in north central Texas when I almost unconsciously noticed this in the sand.

Found in West Fork Trinity River north central Texas. I'm fairly certain it's a fossil. Tapping it on my teeth is what I've found most effective for this size, and it seems quite hard. It's also heavy for its size. The tooth looks to be unerupted to me.

This was found on a gravel bar in the Trinity River in Arlington, TX. It appears to be a fragment of a much larger shell, but I can't figure out what kind of shell. Ammonite maybe ?

This was found on a gravel bar in the Trinity River in Arlington, Texas. From the color I'm guessing it is Cretaceous in age, but I've been told that the river tends to import rocks from a great distance, and Paleozoic fossils do show up. It sure looks like a sponge to me.

Hi everyone. Decided to hunt somewhere other than NSR this time. Not a bad 2 hours. Man that Texas sun is crazy right now. Any-who, 6 ammonites , several clams, a few oysters and the below. Is it a Neithia Texana, Pectan or ?? Beat up a bit but I am happy with it.
