I’m thinking of getting a small ultrasonic cleaner (the type used for cleaning jewelry) to get the dirt and debris out of the cracks and crevices of my smaller specimens. I’ve seen some mention of using an ultrasonic cleaner for fossils but I was curious of people’s experience. Are they that useful for cleaning fossils? Worth getting? How easily will they damage delicate pieces?
I actually have experience using a commercial sized ultrasonic cleaner, but that was for stainless steel surgical instruments years ago.
