  1. Good morning everyone! Few months ago I found this jaw fragment in Ketvergiai quarry, Klaipeda district. The bone is 1.7 cm length and found in glacial boulder not in situ. I would think it can belong to aistopod but i need the professional ID, maybe someone would be able to identify family or order by this fragment? The big 2.6 cm diameter rhizodont scale is also found in this boulder. Best Regards Domas

    Are these rhizodont fish parts?

Hello everyone. Few weeks ago I was in Klaipeda district Western Lithuania and found these two fish fossils- scale is about 3 cm diameter, jaw fragment is 1.6 cm length. I think these fossils belong to some species of rhizodont fish, but i am not sure if the species would be more Late Devonian or Carboniferous in age. Please help me to identify the genera of these remains if it is possible, I need to know what the precise age this freshwater limestone boulder belongs to. Best Regards Domas
  3. Good morning everyone. This summer I was in Klaipeda district (Western Lithuania) for several days and found some interesting brachiopod fossils in dolomite boulders that probably date back to Carboniferous- Permian times. Please help to identify genera of these brachiopod specimens, it would help much to know the precise age of each boulder. The largest brachiopod specimens are up to 3 cm length, the smallest rhynchonellid is 5 mm length.

Please help with age of dolomite boulder

Good morning Dear fossil hunters, Last summer I was in Ketvergiai quarry, Klaipeda district and crushed one dolomite boulder with hammer. there were many interesting brachiopods, some bivalves and also small gastropod inside. I think the boulder is Permian in age because I found Waagenoconcha like brachiopod shell imprint but the certain age diagnosis would be very helpful. The fossils are from 5 mm to 4 cm length. Some brachiopods are quite big but gastropod is the smallest fossil I found here. Any idea how old is this rock? Best Regards Domas

shark tooth from Jurassic- Cretaceous of Lithuania

Dear Guys, Few months ago I found this shark tooth in Juodikiai quarry, Klaipeda district Western Lithuania. It is 6 mm length and it does not have upper part of crown. Judging by the contour of the sides the tooth had to be quite long. Please help with ID of this tooth specimen. Regards Domas

Two jurassic bivalves from Western Lithuania

Good morning everyone! I have some bivalves found in dark marl erratic boulders of Klaipeda district (western Lithuania) and I hardly can find information about two specimens I show here in the photos. The first looks like pholadomyoid (oblong and with radial ridges) and the other looks like arcid or cardiid (it has rays in the lower edge of shell). Please help to identify genera of these two bivalves if you could. Best Regards Domas

Jurassic bivalve fossils from Western Lithuania

Good morning everyone, Few days ago I was in Klaipeda district with my godmother and collected many bivalve fossils in black and brown marine erratic boulders. The majority of rocks should be typical to Jurassic, some ammonites and bivalves I recently identified speaks that there should be many specimens from Toarcian- Aalenian and younger ages. I would be very happy if you help me to know the precise age of each bivalve specimen because then I would know the age of each erratic boulder and bivalve species that I could use in my further publication about mollusc fossils. Best Regards Domas

Turtle scute? Please help with ID

Dear Guys, I recently found this scute fossil in pink fluvial sandstone erratic boulder of Juodikiai quarry, Klaipeda district, Western Lithuania. It has many pits various in size and it is 1.4 cm length. I think it is turtle because the fossil is flat and rectangular but I need opinion about family and age. Best Regards Domas
