Hello - I’m new to the group. I recently found a large bone, the measures 26.5” long, and at the widest point measures 5.25” wide. The narrowest point measures 3” wide. The attached file has pics. Could someone please let me know if this bone may be one from a pilot whale? I was walking the beach in North Carolina, when I found this bone in the surf, which was slightly buried in the sand. thank you in advance for any help!

Found these on a beach near Santa Barbara California the shell was sticking out of a cliff wall the other which I’m not sure if it’s bone or not I found on the beach. What type of shell? And is the other bone or just a rock. Thanks

Hello! I found this a while back around Melbourne, FL on the beach. I've gotten two guesses on what it is, whale bone fossil and petrified wood. I originally thought petrified wood too but there's a spot on the inside where there's not so much of the gray... sediment? and I feel like it might be bone structure, the brown lines? I'll show what I mean at the end. And thanks in advance! This was my first actual beach find and I know almost nothing so I'd love to hear anything you guys can tell from it! (The brown lines around the top) And an example I found online below, the one on the right has lines like it.

Eocene yahoo clay Copenhagen Louisiana. I found this bone in a creek bed along with basilosaurus and Zygorhiza kochii bone fragments(and other marine fossils). My first thought was a tip of a Rib but after cleaning it, something seemed strange with its appearance . The surface texture is not like the other whale bones, possibly due to weathering in the creek . I have no doubt that someone will be able to clarify whether this is a mammal ,reptile are other bone. Any info will be appreciated. The bone is approximately 3 1/2 inches long.

Hi all! Found this this weekend in Surf City, NC while scouring the beach for shark teeth. I thought it was whale bone, but there is a hole bore through it. Not sur if it is whale bone because of that, and if it is, what in the world would drill through the bone like that. Hole is end to end. Thanks for the help! Diana
