Kiwininjastar11
My boss has a collection of fossils picked out of the Brazos river, TX. Most of his are pet wood/plant but this one perked my interest. Edited November 21, 2019 by Kiwininjastar11 Added detailed location

Fossildude19
Welcome to the Forum. Maybe calcite veins in sandstone or limestone? It has some resemblance to desert rose gypsum crystals. Neat looking piece. 2 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." Ludwigia
I'm also inclined to suggest that it's boxwork. 1 Greetings from the Lake of Constance. Roger http://www.steinkern.de/
Tidgy's Dad
I think it's a gypsum formation along the lines of a desert rose. I don't have a close up, but ones like your specimen are pretty common in southern Morocco . Life's Good! Tortoise Friend.
caldigger
It was my understanding that the gypsum crystals form in a "petal like" shape and thus the nomenclature of Desert Rose. This does look much more like Boxwork as Roger suggested.

Most are like the ones in the bottom left of this photo I took in February in Ifrane, Middle Atlas. A very small number indeed are like this one from Wiki : Life's Good! Tortoise Friend. Kiwininjastar11
Thanks for all of the feed back. I’d like to get it under a magnifier as there appears to be some crystallization.
