mesohippus tooth?

Hello gang..  I have another impulse purchase from a flea market identified as Mesohippus tooth.  I have my doubts - you?

That is not Mesohippus. Unless the animal only has two teeth per quadrant.

It looks to be an Equus very similar to my Pleistocene lower M3.

This is a Mesohippus jaw portion. Note with almost the same relative width size as your crown, there are five molars.

The early horses were very tiny compared to what we see now.

Thanks Caldigger.  I did have my doubts, but know very little about horse teeth.  The only reason I was wondering is the tooth in the second post is completely different and was listed as Equus.
