Is this Petrified Wood limb?

I was wonderimg if this is petrified wood. I believe it is, but nit sure what it is replaced with. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm going to say that it is petrified wood and that the mineral replacement is common opal.  This is a really neat piece and, from my experience, a large piece for an opalized wood specimen.

Ok.Thank you. I have a bunch of the same pieces. Except for these 2. Is this also Opal on the petrified wood? That is about a foot and wit weighs over 2lbs. And the second is petrified wood with what looks like quartz underneath, but not sure about the red color.

Yes, those are very similar to petrified tree quartz that I have in my collection.   Most petrified trees have quartz crystals that are milky white in nature with some impurities.

The red, is it just quartz? Really bright

Where did the wood come from?

 

It looks like botryoidal chalcedony more that opal. Opal has better conchoidal fracture and is not usually fibrous like chalcedony is.

DPS Ammonite. This was also in the auction. A decent Ammonite.
