Dianna123
I found these two fossils on a beach near the Mackinac bridge in Lake Michigan, USA. Can anyone tell me what they are? The first specimen with the flat dark inclusion is about 5 cm. The second specimen with the many small lines and holes is about 4 cm. Thanks for your help. Kane
I would say the first is a cross section of a rugose coral, and the second one is an example of a tabulate (colonial) coral. My guess is that they would be Devonian in age. 6 ...How to Philosophize with a Hammer
Mark Kmiecik
Agreed. Very nice finds. Mark. Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!
