Found this in Essex uk I believe it’s a fossil 

11cm long 8cm wide egg like shape 

I’ve never seen pimples on a stone like this before 

many thanks for all help

Welcome to the forum!

 

I think it's the impression in flint of a sponge, so the pimples represent pores. Something like Sporadiscinia or Stauronema - there are usually several possibilities for sponges! A nice specimen, well worth keeping.

Love it! My first thought was sponge too but had to doubt myself, until I read Tarquin's comment. Definitely a keeper.
