Strepsodus
This fossil is present on a block containing what seem to be Elonichthys scales. I found it in the coal measures of Fife (Scotland). Am I correct to think this is a fish jaw? Thanks, Daniel
Petalodus12
Looks like fish material to me but I can’t make out the fine details. Is it possible for you to post a closer up image?
LiamL
Looks like it could be fish jaw with more rounded teeth for crushing. 1 Yorkshire Coast Fossil Hunter
Archie
That looks a bit reminiscent of some lungfish tooth plates in the Fife coal field like Ctenodus cristatus, brilliant find if it is they're not common!
Archie
Heres a plate of showing some examples Ctenodus williei from this paper on Romers Gap lungfish for comparison. https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1111/pala.12203

Missourian
My biased eyes are reminding me of the sponge Coelocladia: Have sponges been found in the deposit? 3 Context is critical.
connorp
The bumps look too random to be part of a jaw or tooth plate, or at least any I’ve ever seen.
Archie
The bumps don't appear to be in rows like they should be on a lungfish tooth plate, I've never come across any mention of sponges in the literature on the Fife Coal field or found any myself but that's not to say they're not there. jdp
It's definitely not lungfish. Can I get a close-up image of the teeth?
