Jkpele
Aw guys I just unearthed my childhood fossil collection and have found that a lot of them have disintegrated into practically dust. Others are growing what looks like mould but is crystalline I think. Is this normal for certain mineral types? And what would you recommend I do to protect the rest? caldigger
Where are they from? If they are pyrite fossils and kept in a humid enviornment then pyrite disease may have destroyed them. Also items from the sea ( especially bone ) may have salts still infused in them and that might be what is "growing" on them...salt crystals. Can you show some photos of the pieces in question for a better analysis.
