Matt646646
So, I bought this shark tooth, but I don't even know if it is a fossil (the guy who I bought it from said it was a fossil, but idk if I can trust his words). Can someone help me identify if it is a fossil and from which type of shark it is?

Matt646646
Sorry, I couldn't take a better pic of the tooth
caldigger
Very grainy pic., but it looks like there may be serrations on it. Did your seller give you any indication as to where this was from? Since both lobes of the root are missing it is hard to tell if there were any cusps. Maybe Carcharodon carcharias ( Great White ), but that is just speculation right now. Shellseeker
It is not a Meg, no bourlette.. Strange concretion on it, maybe marine. I do not quite "see" the serrations , so Mako is another possibility. caldigger
It may just be a battered edge, but I thought it looked serrated when I first looked at it.

Correct, I was just adding the other choice in the remote case that they are not serrations.. I was wondering if the "shape" was more GW than Mako -- they tend to be pretty close --- Matt, size please The White Queen ".... in her youth she could believe "six impossible things before breakfast"
