Last hunt of the year!

Darktooth

Recommended Posts

Here in Central New York, we have had the pleasure of fairly decent weather, for the past week.  The temperature has been high enough to melt most of the snow. Today I needed to get the boys out of the house. I decided to go to Deep Springs and do a hunt while the boys shot their BB guns. We only stayed for about 1 and a half hours. It was nice to be out there. I dont think that i have been on a hunt anywhere since September? I was being picky about what i was bringing home. Some trilo bits and pieces along with a few other things.

First up a Dipleura cephalon.

I'm glad you got out there, Dave. The temps were in the balmy 40's here today. No fossils for me, though. Just digging a trench that my wife has dubbed the Panama Canal in my cellar. I found a nice old marble, but no fossils. I've got to get out to DSR in 2020. I'm looking forward to seeing what else you found today.

Greenops sp. Hard to tell if the cephalon is under the matrix.

Not sure if Greenops or Eldregeops on this one the cephalon is tucked under the thorax and has matrix covering most of it.

That is it for this trip. Nothing spectacular but it felt great to get out. I am definitely looking forward to what the New Year will bring. Also I am looking forward to meeting up with other members!:D

Congrats on the finds and getting out there one more time! The bugs are nice, but I like the looks of the little Grammysiodea alveata. ;)

I like the Grammy's as well. They fossilized quite nicely at this site. I have found a few that have popped out of the matrix in great condition.

I, too, love the intact bivalve more than the trilobites - it's such a beautiful specimen!  Congratulations on finding that, and everything else, too!
