We can't wait to get out as well !! We went for a drive yesterday, checked out pit 1 area (golf course), pit 2 area (fossil rock). Fossilrock has done a lot of work since we drove by there a year ago. Also checked out Mazonia South Unit, saw a couple dozen ice fisherman out on various lakes. Even went by the Braceville spoil pile. Phil

There are a few lungfish species from Mazon but this isn't a close match with any of those. My guess would be Ctenodus or Sagenodus.

tombk
I’m just starting to learn about the Mazon Creek flora (I’ve been mostly collecting Devonian material). I especially like the first fossil in these new pictures. Nice thick stem with intact leaves branching off. Quite striking. 1

deutscheben
Holy cow, man! 2 spiders in a year, that is astounding. I'm curious about the smaller structures surrounding the body in the first picture, I wonder if they are separated parts of the spider as well? I'm thinking about having this one prepped. Phil Edited February 16, 2022 by flipper559
