What type of calcite

Brondonh

Recommended Posts

I found these in a large pile of dirt in a new housing development in Venice FL. I'm assuming they are calcite, but was wondering what type and what they are growing, incapacitated in. I found a lot of them and attaching 3 examples. They are holding yellow and growing on a charcoal, bulbuls rock.

Thanks

Looks like botryoidal calcite.

See if it fizzes slightly when vinegar is applied to rule out botryoidal chalcedony etc.

Not a septarian and not a fossil.

Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!
