How do I stabilise this fish?

Hi All,

I was given this fish as a present for Xmas.

It is labelled as: Syngatus sp, Miocene, Nevada USA

The matrix seems very soft and fragile.

How would I stabilise it and give it more strength.

Thanks

I use paraloid disolved in acetone to stabilise my fossils. you have to coat or drench the fossil in it and it penetrates in soft matrix, after evaporation of the acetone the paraloid solidifies.

Just be cautious, it might sometimes alter the color of the fossil, so always try it on a small part before doig the whole fossil.

growing old is mandatory but growing up is optional.
