Jesuslover340
Not really (the title). @Ash and I are currently staying at a lovely cabin furbished to look like an early settler's homestead while we are on holidays looking for fossilized crabs from the Cretaceous. We got here at 2:30 p.m. yesterday after a 12 hr drive from waking at 2:30 a.m. and leaving at 3:15 a.m. After settling in and having roast beef sandwhiches for a late lunch, we spent 3 hrs in the evening looking and managed to find four confirmed Torynomma quadrata crabs and brought back a few concretions to split for later. We also might have found a nautilus of sorts? Unsure of the correct term. We snacked on crackers with meats and cheeses for 'dinner'. This morning, Ash made us maple-glazed bacon, eggs, and toast for brekkie. We then looked for another couple hours, managing to find only one more crab (Tory again) and some ammonites (heteromorphs). Came back and had another roast beef sandwhich (toasted with swiss cheese and wholegrain mustard), had a swim in the pool, then took a rinse and had a cup of tea. We'll head back out for another few hrs here soon, have dinner (pot roast), then possibly a soak in the outdoor bathtubs (????). Then repeat tomorrow before heading back home Will update as we can-wish us luck! 17 "Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another."-Romans 14:

Ash
Dust indeed. Ash
Here’s a homolopsis that we found split naturally. Unfortunately couldn’t find the top piece so it’s a downer, still looks OK but missing leg bits. Claws probably still there..? (pic 1). Then there’s another we found that was also naturally split, and we managed to find both pieces to it and I think it has potential. Jesuslover340
Okay....let's test the uploading capacity capability of TFF, shall we? So....we may or may not have hit a honey spot. At the very least, we hit a spot with a lot of roundish rocks (those that are amorphous or tube-like we picked on a whim to see if they might have any interesting ammonites, shells, or-in rare instances-lobsters). So here's our overall haul... Box one: Box 2: Box 3: Various ammonites, shells, etc: Unsure what this is. Any ideas? @Monica here's photos of some of the ammonites and shells, etc. I don't know the technical terms for them... We have both sides to this cross-section so hopefully it could turn out nice (most have split naturally over time and have been weathered): This one may or may not have a decent ammo inside-only a little bit is poking out: This one is part of a block that has 2-4 decent ammos in it (we hope, though unsure how we will progress from here as yet to get anything prepped): This one is one of my favorites just due to sheer size. Nautiloid maybe??? Is that the correct term? They're very weathered by the time they get to the top at this size, but it's the first like it we have found: A couple nice confirmed Torynomma crabs. Sorry, I haven't bothered to take photos of each of the nice split ones (we've only done a few to tide us over). That will probably be for another post when we get home and split the rest... In the interim, we picked up a few carapaces and pieces of crabs that had weathered out (though I'm unsure why...maybe just for the sake of it?)... Like this carapace of a Tory: And this one: Or this ghost one: This one has naturally exposed the carapace but might still have some legs from the other side. Annnnd that concludes all the photos for today. Congratulations TFF, you managed to fit them all in one very long-winded post! We know for certain we have 8 good Tories, 6 split and 2 not. We found three Homolopsis crabs, all weathered. One without it's other half but relatively still there we think, and one naturally split with both halves but should turn out alright. The last one is missing a side but the rest should be there. But we have a lot of rock to split, so hopefully there's more yet! Any guesses for how many we'll get from the rocks in the photos? 12 "Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another."-Romans 14:
