Ash
Gosh that tortoise is adorable! I doubt that it’s a different species of crab - but we shall see. There’s one that’s definitely getting prepped ventral side up that is a Torynomma, so will be interesting Monika - that’s really cool! Just Queensland? Eh you’ve been to the best state of all of them 3 "Faith is to believe what you do not see; the reward of this faith is to see what you believe" - Saint Augustine"Those who can not see past their own nose deserve our pity more than anything else." There’s one that’s getting prepped central side up that is a Torynomma, so will be interesting Monika - that’s really cool! Just Queensland? Eh you’ve been to the best state of all of them On the field course we only were in Queensland. When I went with a fellow expat in HK we went to Melbourne and the Great Ocean Road to Adelaide, Sydney, King's Canyon and Uluru, the Whitsunday Islands, Fraser Island, and Brisbane (if I remember correctly), so I did visit a few places in a few other states. I'd LOVE to visit again, but it's a long and expensive trip, and I have two kids to worry about now, so I doubt it'll happen anytime soon
Ash
You got to see a lot! Here’s a Hoploparia claw. and what we thought was a single big claw is actually 2 smaller ones, interesting. 1 "Faith is to believe what you do not see; the reward of this faith is to see what you believe" - Saint Augustine"Those who can not see past their own nose deserve our pity more than anything else." Huntonia
I think we all are. I just wish I'd be able to find fossils this cool once it finally is.

It reminds me of the molting crabs I once kept in my aquariums. Aren't we fortunate to still be able to find molts of crabs that perished so long ago. Start the day with a smile and get it over with. Youre only a state over from the Washington crabs and a state over from dinosaurs Agreed, @Pagurus, I never kept crabs but did raise crawfish. They’re fun little guys to watch. That'll go on the bucket list next to Wyoming green river and Utah trilobites.

Ash
Hey you’re In a crab country yaself! And your crabs are heaps bigger. Notice the fingers in these photos for scale? They’re small crabs but I like them. We posted all the “was split” pictures at the start of this thread but I’m still including the before pics of each as it saves going back. I love seeing how they turn out. My first trip to this site was 2013 but I never had any prepped until now. This is the very first crab I ever found there. Since it was a special one DLB prepped both sides for me 1 "Faith is to believe what you do not see; the reward of this faith is to see what you believe" - Saint Augustine"Those who can not see past their own nose deserve our pity more than anything else." Huntonia
Man I love when the crabs are prepped on both sides. I can only imagine how much effort it takes but it's worthwhile in my opinion. I personally just love educational fossils where you can see an interesting pathology or just a less often seen piece of anatomy. It's cool to be able to point at something on a fossil and say 'see that? that tells us x y and z about this specific creature from millions of years ago.' Ash
T30 done. T49 was a dud. Ah well there’ll be a few of those I’m pretty sure a few more are just isolated claws that aren’t worth prepping, but I don’t have stone X-ray vision to know which to send him "Faith is to believe what you do not see; the reward of this faith is to see what you believe" - Saint Augustine"Those who can not see past their own nose deserve our pity more than anything else." I use it to mean 'like' and I am sure I am not the only one. There should be an additional 'like' button. But. please do keep showng your cool crabs.
