What an amazing haul!!  :default_faint:

Looks like a lot of cow pies in that field.  Hope you didn't have to look under them for concretions.

I think your "mystery" fossil is Teredo (shipworm)-bored wood.  The shipworm burrows are lined with calcite deposits, and sometimes they are all that remains after the wood has decomposed.

Nice stuff.... esp the Homolopsis, even if it isn't perfect.  Thanks for taking us along.  What part of Oz is this in?

Thanks-this is exactly what we needed for the ammonites!

Just had this happen  Still five hours to get back home  Too many rocks, maybe?

Four days over jagged rocks and sticks and kangaroo and sheep bones and ruts and gullies, it decides to give out on smooth bitumen. Classic :thumbsu:

Thanks! :)

They were! And our pot roast was good as well, given we were limited by staying at a hotel :) Thankfully we brought along our Phillips multi-cooker, so it only took an hour.

That doesn't look tasty AT ALL,SkyeB).

Potatoes with skin look particularly gross and unsavoury:P

Managed to get back home. Of course the spare tire was also flat. But thankfully someone happened to drive by that had a compressor for us to get the flat up long enough to get to the next town to patch the leak in the spare for $30. But it seems to have been worth it! We half-unloaded the car, given how late we arrived back, then split some of the rocks. Six more Torynomma quadrata crabs and two Homolopsis etheridgei! Here's a few photos:

I mean really Skyelar, who are you trying to fool?  How serious of a fossil hunter are you with nice manicured nails like that?!!!  Unless of course those are Troy's hands. :o

Cal - a friend of mine said they look like potatoes too. Ha!

Oh no! You’re on to me and my dedication for maintaining my well groomed, delicate lady like fingers :chuckle:

We got 3 more ammonites last night too. One is pictured above and here are the other 2. The one above is more clearly defined than the picture makes it look. Was late and we we’re tired..

That would be nice. Hopefully it has the tail if so. Typically missing from this locality.

Manicured?! They're just overgrown and need clipped! :heartylaugh:

It looks beautiful there. The news reports I am getting make it sound as if the entire continent of Australia is under a blanket of thick smoke and everyone is running around in a panicked frenzy.

Please, please write more often and send more of your very nice pictures.  I would have to drive next door to Alabama to dip into a vein that rich in old fossils.  Thanks.

This was a 12 hour drive each way for us, not too close. But we never left the state either.

Thanks for the comments guys, we’ll update more as we split more, and when they’re prepped (gotta work that one out) then we’ll update it again with the finale :)

Planning to do a display dedicated to just this site as I quite enjoy it.

Unsure what this one is-it's either a piece of Hoploparia sp. crayfish/lobster or a Torynomma:

1578492537665_0293943778_b9e0d3a7.thumb.jpg.7fe0895993e9d6decc99e1de03e85bac.jpg

Next we have our lobster/crayfish pieces. We have two that we think might be relatively complete (one not shown), one large claw, and one small claw:

1578492503114_0261173039_b9e0d3a7.thumb.jpg.fb80304f9b2cea3703fbb9ee3bb584dd.jpg1578492503115_0157352657_b9e0d3a7.thumb.jpg.260158d16c538d593a189b1a2a4f0727.jpg1578492503116_0200735455_b9e0d3a7.thumb.jpg.a8215818919e930921f5abd733be7034.jpg

And lastly, three Homolopsis that we labelled last night. H2 is the one that we found naturally split missing a side but should have the other side.

1578492503111_0663710770_b9e0d3a7.thumb.jpg.1165600f47b3604a0284bfe7ed3d5260.jpg1578492549767_0730132263_b9e0d3a7.thumb.jpg.4b80be4886a6dded7171775f2e7c5146.jpg1578492549769_0360618253_b9e0d3a7.thumb.jpg.84a63d4ec1f84fa7d1896f249a79325f.jpg

These are the ones we are up to labelling. We still have three Homolopsis to go, one more relatively complete crayfish (the one not shown as we didn't get around to labelling it last night-we hope the two "relatively complete" ones are-they seem to be, which is why I say that), and half a box more to split. These don't include 3 Torynommas we have unprepped from our trip back in 2015 and 1 Homolopsis.

Oh-and here's the ammonites from yesterday. They're not labeled yet, but I will probably post them again once they are so the before and after photos can be seen:
