FossilDAWG
What an amazing haul!! Looks like a lot of cow pies in that field. Hope you didn't have to look under them for concretions. I think your "mystery" fossil is Teredo (shipworm)-bored wood. The shipworm burrows are lined with calcite deposits, and sometimes they are all that remains after the wood has decomposed. jpc
Nice stuff.... esp the Homolopsis, even if it isn't perfect. Thanks for taking us along. What part of Oz is this in?

Just had this happen Still five hours to get back home Too many rocks, maybe? Four days over jagged rocks and sticks and kangaroo and sheep bones and ruts and gullies, it decides to give out on smooth bitumen. And our pot roast was good as well, given we were limited by staying at a hotel Thankfully we brought along our Phillips multi-cooker, so it only took an hour. 1 "Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another."-Romans 14:

Jesuslover340
Managed to get back home. Of course the spare tire was also flat. But thankfully someone happened to drive by that had a compressor for us to get the flat up long enough to get to the next town to patch the leak in the spare for $30. But it seems to have been worth it! We half-unloaded the car, given how late we arrived back, then split some of the rocks. Six more Torynomma quadrata crabs and two Homolopsis etheridgei! Here's a few photos: Still more to split.... 5 "Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another."-Romans 14:
caldigger
I think you've stumbled upon an old potato farm mate! I mean really Skyelar, who are you trying to fool? How serious of a fossil hunter are you with nice manicured nails like that?!!! Unless of course those are Troy's hands.
Ash
Cal - a friend of mine said they look like potatoes too. Ha! Oh no! You’re on to me and my dedication for maintaining my well groomed, delicate lady like fingers We got 3 more ammonites last night too. One is pictured above and here are the other 2. The one above is more clearly defined than the picture makes it look. Was late and we we’re tired.. 5 "Faith is to believe what you do not see; the reward of this faith is to see what you believe" - Saint Augustine"Those who can not see past their own nose deserve our pity more than anything else." Ash
That would be nice. Hopefully it has the tail if so. Typically missing from this locality. Ruger9a
I enjoyed this entire thread, from the accommodations to the food to the tire peril and especially the fossil and site photos. Makes me feel as if I were actually there with you. Thanks.
caldigger
It looks beautiful there. The news reports I am getting make it sound as if the entire continent of Australia is under a blanket of thick smoke and everyone is running around in a panicked frenzy. Thanks for the comments guys, we’ll update more as we split more, and when they’re prepped (gotta work that one out) then we’ll update it again with the finale Planning to do a display dedicated to just this site as I quite enjoy it. 1 "Faith is to believe what you do not see; the reward of this faith is to see what you believe" - Saint Augustine"Those who can not see past their own nose deserve our pity more than anything else." Jesuslover340
Ooooh boy.... We are up to 27 Torynomma quadrata crabs in total with still half a box to go... 3 "Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another."-Romans 14:
Jesuslover340
Unsure what this one is-it's either a piece of Hoploparia sp. crayfish/lobster or a Torynomma: Next we have our lobster/crayfish pieces. We have two that we think might be relatively complete (one not shown), one large claw, and one small claw: And lastly, three Homolopsis that we labelled last night. H2 is the one that we found naturally split missing a side but should have the other side. These are the ones we are up to labelling. We still have three Homolopsis to go, one more relatively complete crayfish (the one not shown as we didn't get around to labelling it last night-we hope the two "relatively complete" ones are-they seem to be, which is why I say that), and half a box more to split. These don't include 3 Torynommas we have unprepped from our trip back in 2015 and 1 Homolopsis. 2 "Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another."-Romans 14:
Jesuslover340
Oh-and here's the ammonites from yesterday. They're not labeled yet, but I will probably post them again once they are so the before and after photos can be seen: 2 "Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another."-Romans 14:
