Cretaceous Mussel Maybe??

What is this thing? It is completely shiny and pearlescent inside as if it was just alive.

This is from a creek in Austin TX.

Also, any idea what the other small bits are?

It is a modern oyster shell.  

 

Some of the flat bits are Inoceramid clam fragments; there is also some matrix bored by marine creatures, serpulid worm fragment, and a small Ilymatogyra oyster.

I have found modern oyster shells in unexpected places far from the coast.  People will dump shells in various places after shucking oysters.  Also old (pre sanitary landfill days) garbage dumps sometimes get eroded by streams.  I agree it is a modern oyster.
