Hi all, gotten bit by the by the fossil bug and I am now analyzing everything I see. I found this on the beach of a lake (finger lakes NY) where I am regularly finding tabulate, rugose, brachiopod, bryzoan type fossils. It's a bit difficult for me to suggest any specific time frame simply because the glacier cut through many levels and then everything has been tumbled through rough wave actions. Thanks for your help! It looks like a skull to me but idk of what

Reminds me of Ordovician bryozoans grossly. Here is one from the Dry dredgers.

Hi, welcome to the forum!  There are a lot worse things to be bitten by than the fossil bug!  You may have a piece of some fossil, but with just the one angle I cant say for sure what.  I am virtually certain it is not a skull though.  I suppose it could be a small piece of one, but I'm not seeing any bone sutures at the appropriate places.  Again, other views may confirm that.  Happy hunting!

Welcome to the Forum. :)

Most likely, the area is Devonian or Silurian in age.

See this map:

Please take photos of all sides.

Make sure it is on a flat surface, and have something in the picture for scale.
Tape measure, ruler, protractor, yardstick.

Thanks for the welcome!

I took photos from all sides, just got a new phone and am trying to find a way to limit the file size apologies. Yes I read the posting rules,  and I'm attempting to give as much info as I can : )

I also want to mention what I'm seeing looks like eye socket and nasal cavity. The right side being best preserved everything else is a bit smushed, water eroded or otherwise damaged. Can confirm 100% it's not bryzoan. Thanks
