Shark tooth ID

Found a couple interesting pieces today in North Carolina at Greens Mill Run. I'm thinking juvenile megalodon for the tooth but could be wrong, and not sure what the other piece is. Maybe some type of shell? Any ideas?

The tooth is a Megalodon. There is nothing to indicate this is a juvenile tooth. It could come from the back of the jaw where the teeth are smaller.

If it was found in Peace River Florida... Turtle or giant Tortoise shell.  We have tons of it in lots of variations...

Posterior teeth are not necessarily small.  Depends on size of the shark! They are smaller relative to the other sized teeth in the same jaw.

@ev_barr2

Yes the black fossil is a piece of turtle shell. A very common find at GMR and many other places in North Carolina. As far as the tooth. Could you provide some good pics, more close up of both sides. Not in your hand please, but laying flat.
