Elevation does not mater, Mountains are formed by up lift.  there are fossil marine units on many of the tallest Mountains of the world

ok. thanks. in the case of Lebanon per se it does but anyway thanks. Had nothing to say about the fossil except this?

I have a few of the same. I show here another but with a plant(?) trace on it. Looking at it in magnification, the trace looks like the trace I saw on another piece shown. I have to say that those were found filled with green mud (I will post other fossils with the green mud visible). That green mud line was about 65cm wide all across the cut of the sandstone hill to extract sand.

I agree that you have gastropod fossils, but I am not sure about age - could be mesozoic.

I'm curious as to what the height of the finds tells one in the Lebanon material.  Does it refer to age of exposure?  If so, could you tell us the age?

As to the "plant-like" material on the fossils, these appear to be dendritic mineral stains, possibly Mg stains.

Hope this helps.
