Sting ray tail? No barb.

Not sure what these are, found on Myrtle Beach. They don't have the barbs that I find on some sting ray tails, but wondering if they are just a part of the tail further up?

Thanks!

I found some similar to those here ... These don't have barbs because suffered erosion... I agree with sting ray tails.

Yes. The middle one includes the insertion. The rounded edge at the bottom is where the barb connects to the body. The barbs don't usually start for some ways up the shaft. The one on the right has pretty clear barbs on the upper left surface.

Thanks, all! Your comments inspired me to look up the anatomy of a sting ray tail and was surprised to see the barbs weren't at the tips after all. These fossils make more sense to me now. Thanks!

There's what's left of your barbs. They are just very worn fragments.

I see them better on the picture than in person :) Thanks!
