What do you all thing about this fossil insect?  Real?  Fake?  Real with paint?


It looks like Green River matrix, but I don't know.

Looks like paint, with no fossil visible.  :(

I think the dark splotch in the middle may be something. Whether it is actually an insect will be very debatable. :headscratch:

All the rest is paint.

This looks like a complete paint job, to me. 

It looks like a small X shape was painted/inked on, then the blobsquatch added on top.

Having pinned hundreds of insects and having insect fossils , this all looks completely painted. As the comments above have already stated :/ .

It doesn't show any features that a normal insect fossil should have. Like the supposed wings (I honestly don't know which part are the wings...) are generally a shade lighter than the body of the insect, as seen in Fossildude's example.

I like the way the legs are attached to the wing.
