cthamon
These were found river and creek side in Charleston, SC. I believe the first three are teeth and the last two are bones. I’m suspecting mammal on most if not all, I’ll put my guesses with them. 1. Not sure what these are from but appears to be a jawbone with teeth if I had to guess. 4cm x 2cm 2. The closest thing I can place this to is a tapir, but I’m not sure which end attached to the root and which was the chewing surface. I think the blurrier photo (#2) may show the chewing surface at top left. May not be a tooth at all but it really looks like it to me. 4cm x 2cm continued in next post due to image sizing Edited January 22, 2020 by cthamon
cthamon
3. Maybe a seal tooth? Or dolphin? With a potential cavity? Found inside of a scallop I was cleaning limestone out of. Again, may be a shell or something else but it appeared to be a tooth to me. I believe the biting surface is #3. 1.75cm x 1.5cm Edited January 22, 2020 by cthamon
cthamon
4. I thought dugong rib bone but not sure. Opening on one side and not on the other. 9cmx5.5cm 5. A true head scratcher for me. Pretty sure it’s bone but I have no earthly idea what. 7.5cmx3.5cm.
caldigger
#1 looks to be plant material in iron rich concretion. #2 root etched rock # 3 barnacle #4 Maybe cetacean rib given the size. Is it extremely dense ( heavy )? #5 might be bone, might be rock. Its hard to tell from these photos.

This is the other side of #5 with what looks like damage exposing inner bone in the middle. Still have some learning to do but I feel like I’m getting better, plus I’m having a lot of fun with the pup exploring new places.
cck
#5 could be a very worn cetacean vertebrae?
