Ezio Bonsignore
Out of a quarry in the Pellenz area of Rhineland, Germany. The quarry (and many others) exploits the gigantic layer (30-50m) of sand and ashes left by the pyroclastic phase of the eruption/explosion of the Laacher volcano (the largest volcanic event known to ever having taken place in Europe), which killed and buried every form of life in a radius of at least 50km. This took place some 13,000 years ago, so this is a relatively recent fossil. Question: Mammuthus primigenius, or Palaeoloxodon (Elephas) antiquus? AFAIK they were both around to enjoy the fireworks.
