Hey there! New to the group, I was wondering if anyone can help me out with identifying this fossil I picked up in Madagascar?

Did that one pass as handlugagge?

On first look I would say sauropod femur.

As far as wiki tells me there are two sauropods described from there, Rapetosaurus and a dubious Titanosaurus.

But I am no expert, just guessing.

Best Regards,

J

Welcome to the forum.

Big Femur from a Sauropod.

Yes you will need to know which deposit its in to try to identify it.   However, having said that there are numerous jurassic and cretaceous sauropods in madagascar and very little is published or known.   I suggest you contact paleontologists that have had some experience in those faunas and they might help.

We do have some post cranial info on Rapetosaurus but there are other titanosauriforms in the Cretaceous and then there are multiple ones in the Jurassic deposits
